Tip of the day

Today I was working with corridors on the subdivision that I am working on. I typically like to view the surface of my street design with the object viewer. As a default I have my contours, tin and points turned on for model view in the surface styles properties. Since my corridor is over 3 miles long, which also includes 2 roundabouts, 3 cul-de-sac's and 3 intersections, it has become really slow when I rotate, pan and zoom in the object viewer. I noticed today that if I turn off my points style options for model view, the object viewer performs 10 times faster and smoother. In addition, my hardware acceleration options is also turned off.  I just thought I would share this with yall. Have a great afternoon.

AUTODESK 0% FINANCING

I received an email today that Autodesk is now providing 0% financing on all Autodesk software. I think this is amazing and a great idea. See link below for more information.

Tip of the day–Pipe Sizing

Tonight I was playing around with my pipes properties and noticed something I have always ignored or not paid too much attention to. If you go into your pipe properties, part properties tab and scroll down to resize behavior options. C3D has the resize behavior set to invert as a default.  When I am sizing my storm pipe I would typically just do a pipe swap and match the 2 pipe connections within the null storm structure properties.. A quicker way to do this is to change your pipe resize behavior to crown, so the 2 connected pipes will match at the crown. This works well when you have a null structure as your structure. I just thought I would share this will yall.

Knowledge Base–Survey Point Offsets

Here is Autodesk knowledge base post for January. To change the subject, I will be doing a post next week on how to create point offset for survey shots such as power poles. This is an issue I have seen posted in the Autodesk forum and an issue our survey department has been trying to solve. Well I decided to help out today and throw my 2 cents in, since I really don’t try to get myself involved with the survey stuff lol. Anyways, I will do a post Monday or Tuesday on how I got around this problem. Thanks for stopping by.
